Who Can Benefit?

Counselling and therapy can be beneficial to all types of people.
Individuals approach a counsellor for many reasons: -

They are experiencing a crisis or have suffered a bereavement or loss.

Abuse was experienced throughout their childhood and they want to make sense of it.

They may feel they have no potential in their lives, struggle with depression and are unable to make progress.

Some seek support from a counsellor when they are looking to increase their self-awareness.

Confidence may be a difficulty and they may be looking to become more assertive in their way of being.

Others may have come to a point in their relationships where they feel that they are in crisis and want to discuss this with a trained counsellor.

How Long Will I Need Counselling?

For some clients six to eight weekly 50 minute sessions is enough to help them deal with a specific problem.

Clients may need longer support in order to explore both their childhood and present day issues. Under these circumstances clients can chose to work with a counsellor for a period of up to a year.

If clients are having to deal with severe trauma they may well decide to continue in therapy for longer. However, this time scale is not limited to these clients. Clients who are focusing on personal development may chose to take a longer term approach to their therapy.

The term can very from client to client.

How Much Does It Cost?

My fees are £40 per session.

I do offer a limited number of concessionary places for those on low incomes.

What About Confidentiality?

The content of sessions is confidential, as outlined in the professional Code of Ethics of my governing bodies - UKCP and BACP. You may consider letting your Doctor know that you are receiving counselling, particularly if you are taking medication or you are experiencing physical symptoms of which your doctor is not yet aware.
